RoseRyan spins off Southern California operations & gains momentum in Bay Area’s cleantech sector

(Newark, Calif., November 5, 2009) — RoseRyan announced today that it has spun off its two Southern California offices, which opened in San Diego in 2003 and Orange County in 2005 as offshoots of its Bay Area practice.

Mike Rose, formerly RoseRyan’s President & CEO, will head a new business comprising RoseRyan’s former Southern California offices. Kathy Ryan, who founded the firm in 1993 with Sue Macias, will continue to lead RoseRyan, adopting the new title of CEO & CFO to reflect her broader role.

“We’re excited to better focus on Northern California and our clients here and wish our former colleagues in San Diego and Orange County the very best in their new business,” says Ryan. “This change allows RoseRyan to continue delivering the outstanding finance and accounting services that our clients expect. We are focused on quality, as always, and growing our Bay Area presence.”

RoseRyan also announced its new partnership with Thinkshift Communications of San Francisco. Thinkshift has been charged with refreshing the consulting firm’s messaging and website, building upon RoseRyan’s strong brand, and creating new communications programs for the firm.

RoseRyan Surges Ahead with Cleantech Push

With the hiring of business specialist Chris Vane in 2008, RoseRyan has been making a concerted effort to parlay its strengths in start-ups as well as the high-tech and biotech sectors into developing new business in the Bay Area’s burgeoning cleantech sector. To date, this push has yielded more than a dozen new clients.

“We’re delighted with our results in the cleantech sector,” notes Ryan. “We’ll continue to forge ahead in this area, as it’s a natural fit for our services and our experience.”

Additionally, in May of this year RoseRyan joined with national law firm Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP to pursue cleantech clients who seek stimulus funding from the government. The firms’ new program was covered by The San Francisco Business Times in June and their teamwork was also detailed in a guest column in the Bay Area biotech industry association BayBio’s NOTES in July. To date the firms have assisted a handful of clients in solar, smart grid, and energy storage in applying for stimulus dollars.
